The Blake at Lafayette Hires New Executive Chef

LAFAYETTE, LA (March 21, 2016) –   Gregory Doucet, former executive chef of Jolie’s Louisiana Bistro has joined the team at The Blake as their new Executive Chef.   Set to open later this spring, The Blake at Lafayette is poised to offer a new option in senior living for the Lafayette community that will extend to their dining services, as well.

Doucet began his culinary career at the John Folse Culinary Institute at Nicholls State University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Culinary Science, after studying business at the University of Louisiana.  Throughout his career, he has worked in various restaurants moving quickly up the line to his most recent position as executive chef of Lafayette’s own Jolie’s Louisiana Bistro, where he was quickly promoted from line cook to kitchen manager to catering chef, to sous chef and on to executive chef in 2013, where he remained until the restaurant’s recent closing.

“I am eager to embark on this new aspect of my career, and to work at creating a signature cuisine for The Blake that is both health-focused and delicious,” says Doucet.  “It will be a privilege to serve the residents at The Blake and to share this dining experience with them”.

Dining at this new luxury senior living facility will be focused on serving high quality seasonal specialties, seafood, meats and produce, while offering well balanced menus in a restaurant-style environment.  Food plays an important role in the quality of life for Louisiana residents.  And the dining experience at The Blake will be no different.

This 93,000 square-foot retirement community is currently under construction at the intersection of Kaliste Saloom Road and Polly Lane. Located across from Lafayette Heart Hospital, Louisiana’s newest senior living community will offer 110 apartments with “resort-style” amenities, for assisted living and memory care residents.
It is owned by Alabama-based Quality Senior Living and will be operated by its affiliate, Blake Management Group of Jackson, Miss.
