The Department of Veteran Affairs offers a special benefit to war era veterans and their surviving spouses called Aid and Attendance. This is in addition to the discount that The Blake offers to our veterans!

The Aid and Attendance program is a tax-free benefit that provides financial assistance to help cover the cost of long term care. This applies to care provided in your home, in an assisted living community or in a nursing home.

The benefit is for veterans and surviving spouses who require regular attendance of another person or caregiver in at least two daily activities, such as bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, etc.

If you or your spouse is a veteran…

  • With 90 days military service
  • Who has served one day during wartime (even if not in combat)
  • Who is at least age 65 or deemed totally disabled by a physician

Eligibility Requirements

  • VA Form 21-2680
  • Must have served at least 90 days of active duty with at least one day during a period of war.
  • Must have anything other than a Dishonorable discharge.
  • A surviving spouse must have been married to the veteran at the time of his passing, and not remarried unless to a wartime veteran.
